I struggled to find an idea for what the doll design should be, and then it occurred to me: Themselves! It doesn't come across well in sketch form, but I want the designs to be simplistic, painted versions of their normal attire. If I pull it off, it can be cute!
What do you guys think about including the top parts of the dolls? I included two to show how it would look. The other tops can always be put in the background.

Neat! Definitely a twist on the traditional costumes. But, how can they move around in the shells?
This is one of the most adorable sketches I have seen. I like it, but probably could be used for a different holiday. Other than that, awesome.
Could be useful for Christmas. Put the kids in bright, holiday colored clothes.
Personally, I think that Tiffany would make a great witch (a la Wicked Witch of the West).
Yeah, I don't know any Russian holiday, but Christmas (or in this case, Chrispmas) sounds like a good idea.
The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas-just later than the secular Christmas.
