Buy more prints!

This haunting piece of fanart was done by the great Roman Wunderlich of B-Movie Comic, via reader John Cuellar. HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO THAT FACE?

Well, I -have- lately been considering springing for a commission... :-) I remember that you are closing commissions until after New Year's at least, but since you ask... This'll give you an idea of my current thinking and I'll watch for your announcement of resuming commissions before submitting a formal request.

My -current- idea is for a picture of my little fox character from the WaterWars thread in the Precocious forums. He would be shown as an 'artist' with Kaitlyn posing for him in her Princess costume.

Kaitlyn is not necessarily smiling for this one either, ;-) but the 'artist' version might show her in a better light. :-) :-) :-)

You're aware of what's happening with my Supporters area, right? My financial situation isn't rosy either at the moment, I'm afraid.

December is always a rough month on sales. Add to that, most of your readers probaly didn't pay attention to your news post. They come for the comic and zoom off once they've read it.

I have an idea that may help. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing, but it'll make the print sale more noticeable.

What if you put a banner the size of your PW ad spot between the main navigation block of your page and the comic block? Don't turn it into a PW ad, just make it a static ad advertising your print sale. When people click on it, have it take them to your blog post about the sale. Make it as easy for them to order from you as possible.

Again, not the prettiest idea, but it makes the sale more noticeable to everyone. And, once you're done, it's easy to remove. I'm sure Matt can help you set it up if you'd like.

Again, just a thought. My mind's been slipping into business mode lately trying to figure ways of handling the situation I'm in at the moment. So, I apologize if it sounds like an off idea.

Oh, I doubt I'll get much more attention with this, but I got fanart and I was gonna post it!

This is a sad month for webcomics. I'm here asking for money and all I want to do is donate to all these artists who are better than me.

I know Matt built an alert system into clickthulu, but I didn't bother asking him about it because I can't see how my print sale is going to get any real attention no matter what I do. I'd rather save up my site spamming for when it's time to take book preorders.

The point of my comment wasn't to imply that you should feel bad about not donating to others. The point is, while you have to take care of yourself, they have to take care of themselves too. We want to help, but can't at the moment, just as you can't help us. It's a mutual understanding between artists. It other words, we're all in the same boat. It's a leaky boat and it smells strongly of fish. ;P

I suggested the banner because it's something I've done myself and found it works. If your readers don't care to donate, they'll ignore the banner. Trust me. But those who aren't aware that you're having computer issues will appreciate the heads-up.

Your readers enjoy what you do and want to see you succeed at it. They want to see you happy and healthy. But if they don't know something is wrong, then they're not going to offer help. And unfortunately, it's easy to ignore anything below the fold, especially this time of year.

If you're not comfortable with a banner idea because you think it's spamming... I'm sorry. Heh, you're going to hate me at Anthrocon then. Do what you feel comfortable with and if you want to brainstorm any ideas, you know where to find me. :)
